Dear Reader,
Thank you for choosing the company of our print edition for Spring 2025. This edition is a tight embrace of both change and continuity, capturing the evolving realities that shape our world. In classic ink-on-paper form, it stands as a testament to the material roots of transformation and persistence in contemporary times.
Bringing together articles, photo journals, and poetry, this edition explores the fluidity of concepts across themes of art, existence, gender, and materiality. We chose this theme to reflect our vision of fostering expression that transcends rigid frameworks, encouraging students to experiment within a space of creative exploration—one that remains deeply connected to the present while acknowledging the past.
La Danse is an ode to life, joy and it comes off as a message to embrace life and the changes life has to offer, or thrust upon us. It sings of simplicity and energy, and it is seen as a symbol of deviation from very traditional western interpretations and conventions of art. This deviation is something that we wished to address, or even forward, through our theme of change that spins along the lines of continuity. Or if we may let ourselves philosophise a bit, we also tried to look at a feeling of continuity that may stem from the eternal cycle, or dance, of change.
While our coverage extends globally, we also highlight the shifting dynamics of student life in Geneva. Since its founding in 2018, The Graduate Press has been committed to providing a platform for free and uncensored expression within the IHEID student community, and this edition proudly carries that tradition forward. We continue to build upon the legacy of our predecessors, striving to make this space even more inclusive and accessible.
We hope that the pieces in this edition resonate with you as much as they did with us.
Best,
Sree, Aanvi, Romane & Samira
