Some people say that when you go to Valais you can either ski or get a tan, sometimes you can do both at the same time. Unfortunately for us we were there on the one weekend of rain and gloom that takes place in that part of the mountains.
Going to a ski town during off-season can have many downsides, one being that you have to walk 45 minutes to get to the nearest shop and then haul the fire wood back up the mountain like in the olden days. But it can also be an amazing weekend to get some pretty pictures, in what is essentially a ghost town.
Just make sure to download a good playlist before you get there, since there is no way you are ever going to get internet up there.
